Health, Safety and Environment
HSE standards are strictly upheld at Stevenah. In line with its policy, the Managing Director is responsible for establishing the STEVENAH LIMITED policy on Health, Safety and Environmental Protection. The MD/CEO also provides all necessary resources to put the policy in place. This responsibility is exercised through the STEVENAH Health, Safety and Environment department. STEVENAH is wholly committed to the prevention of all incidents, injuries, occupational illnesses to its employees, contractors and members of the public. STEVENAH is equally committed to the prevention of pollution, protection of the environment, conservation of the natural resources and to its sustainable development.
To achieve this, STEVENAH will:
- Uphold Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) as core-values more than simple priorities
- Comply with all applicable Nigerian laws and regulations, international standards and relevant best practices.
- Design and maintain safe and healthy work places, plant and equipment, safe operating systems and methods of work
- Use best available environmental technology and practices; progressively reduce emissions, discharges and wastes, improve the efficient use of energy and conserve natural resources
- Identify operational hazards and environmental aspects to manage HSE risks to a level that ensures safety of people, protection of the environment and integrity of operation.
- Hold all levels of management, supervision and employees, in line function accountable for HSE performance.
- Empower all employees and contractors to stop any work that is considered unsafe or not in line with HSE policy and procedures.
- Mitigate all HSE deficiencies and non-conformances identified through audits, inspections and incident investigations as well as other sources, in a timely manner.
- Continually improve HSE performance by fostering a positive HSE culture that recognizes individual contributions.
- Measure, appraise and publicly report HSE performance against annually set HSE objectives and targets.
